“As House Captain, House Arts was an absolutely brilliant experience. I loved working with people from different years that otherwise I wouldn’t have met. Creating this production with everyone from Ferrers was a lovely experience, and made for a House Arts that I will never forget.”- Sophia (House Captain of Ferrers)

Ferrers’ performance of the “Hatter- Before He Turned Mad” tells the bleak yet hilarious tale of the Mad Hatter, played by Scarlet Sproson, who we all know and love, who struggles through isolation, with a raging desire to fit in as he tries to sell his incredibly well-made hats to anyone he can find. The Hatter notices a mysterious hat on the ground, and despite a warning to avoid it, he places it on his head and stumbles through Wonderland, whilst slowly becoming mad due to his mercury poisoning, managing to irritate royalty in Wonderland, leading to his imprisonment (partially due to the conniving work of the Cheshire Cat). However, he eventually discovers who he really is, now, around people who truly accept him.

“It was an honour to take part once again in House Arts, this time as the Mad Hatter, a    * very insane * role, which I thoroughly enjoyed playing. It is a pleasure and a joy to be part of Ferrers House, a House which I consider as a second family. The feeling of being on stage was electrifying and it wouldn’t have been the same if a single person was missing.”

I want to give a special shoutout to Emily and Sophia, two people I love and adore who did an incredible job as Captain’s, and to the extremely talented Megan, a best friend, who I have been doing House Arts with every year since Year 7. It was a pleasure to spend one last time on stage doing House Arts with you, Megan. I will miss you tremendously next year.”- Scarlet, Year 12

Ferrers produced a divine House Arts Performance this year, recreating the beautiful Wonderland on stage, way before Alice arrives, bringing to life the Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, and the Cheshire Cat, timeless characters which we all know and love. A beautifully written script by Sakina led to the House’s win of Best Script Award, with Megan’s delightful acting performance of the Cheshire Cat giving her the well- deserved Best Individual Acting Award. Ferrers easily made “Movie Magic” on stage as we were taken to the vibrant, whimsical world of Wonderland.
